Children's and Family Ministries

TruthWalkers

On most Sundays, around 9 AM, in a section of Bender Hall, you can hear the chatter and giggles of little ones, gathering for a TruthWalkers meeting. As in most churches, programs for children and youth are offered, providing Christian theology and activities with age appropriate lessons and materials. At St. Peter’s Church in Plant City, Florida, the program is called TruthWalkers. This lively class meets each Sunday in the school year from 9:15 - 10:15 in the Godly Play classroom in Bender Hall, east of the main sanctuary.  All young people, aged second grade and up, are welcome, including visitors and those wanting to check out the class . Godly Play, a widely used Montessori based curriculum that is adaptable to a range of denominations, is presented most Sundays.  Lessons include sacred stories, parables, and liturgical lessons. Some weeks are used as “work days” that allow for group activities, crafts, or outreach programs.

TruthWalkers class is facilitated by Cindy and Gregg Gutowski, members of St. Peter’s, whose broad smiles when greeting the children are an indication of the joy they find in this ministry. A weekly group text with reminders and information on upcoming youth and family events is available. In addition, parent meetings are held several times during the school year to help with planning. Parents are always welcome to visit the classroom. If you’re looking for a way to serve at St. Peter’s, or to provide a nourishing experience for your child, a visit to TruthWalkers could provide a solution. Consider participating in this group as they gather to make a joyful noise unto the Lord. You will find it heartwarming and be blessed in doing so. To be included in the group texts or for more information, text Cindy @ 813-763-1267.

Family Service

Not all families include children, but some do. Making worship in the sanctuary of St. Peter’s friendly and accessible for all ages is part of what we’re called to do as members of Christ’s church.

The Family Service is held on the last Sunday of each month at the 10:30 service. All families are welcome, large and small, families of birth and of choice. The Family Service is an all-ages Episcopal worship that centers on children and youth in a more intentional and inclusive way. Those children interested can be trained to serve as acolytes or readers. It’s an opportunity to share, to learn, and to grow together as God’s family through all generations. Watch for the announcement of each month’s Family Service in St. Peter’s newsletter. Please join us!
